Good

McGlue
by Ottessa Moshfegh

After reading this entire book, I still have no idea what it was about. The central character, McGlue, is always drunk, though it's not clear why. He is befriended by Johnson, who he ends up killing. Again, it is not clear why. There is lots of time at sea, and ultimately lots of time in jail. The narration is first person and much, if not most of it, makes no sense. I got nothing out of the book and would not recommend it.

Loved this! The story moved quickly and I wanted to find out what happened at the end. The characters were well written and interesting. The ending was very unbelievable; how could they ALL be connected to the killer!? But it was still fun to read!
