My book club read this book. I absolutely adored this book. It was one that I never wanted to end- I got sad knowing I was approaching the end of the book. Sad to say goodbye to the characters. Our book club went on a field trip to see the movie in the theater. Now that it’s available on prime, my 6 year old son was excited to see it, as I’d told him about the book. He loved it as well.

Dungeon Crawler Carl

Fun fantasy book. The review of "dungeons and dragons meets Hunger Games" is spot on. I don't think you need a background in either to get into this.

The Midnight Feast

This was a really good book, and what I particularly appreciated is what a great job the author did with delivering current day scenes with past scenes, all with seemingly different people (can’t say more about that without giving the plot away) and keeping them very clear and well defined. While seemingly this book appears to be about a woman who has opened the high-end retreat of her dreams, it is really about the past and disrespect for the local town coming back with a vengeance.

Extinction

What if we could bring back the dinosaurs, only this time we could edit the genes so that the dinosaurs were not aggressive? Would that be enough? Or would we want to also bring back neanderthal man? Would that then be enough? Or would we then want to use some of the neanderthal genes to improve our genome? And where would this all lead? This is the setting for this wonderful and yet truly frightening story. You will not be disappointed!

Darling Girls

Hepworth has never disappointed me and this book is no exception. In this story, a young girl loses her family and is put in with a foster mother. Although she is devastated at the loss of her parents, the foster mother seems nice and they become very close. But when the young girl starts school and makes friends there, friends other than her foster mother, things change dramatically. Then other foster children come to live with them, and things for all the children get much worse. It’s a fictional story, but the issues are those of the modern day foster care system. A troubling but gripping read.
