It was an enjoyable read. Definitely really sad at moments. Nothing really notable but nothing terrible either.

Great read

This book has a truly original premise that immediately grabbed my attention, and Colette is a genuinely likable main character who was easy to root for, regardless that she makes a living as a thief. Unfortunately, the story starts developing plot holes early on, and they only become more noticeable as it progresses. By the end, there are so many convenient coincidences that the story loses its believability. It almost feels as if there were only 12 people living in Colette's hometown of Paris, with everyone's lives intertwined in the most unbelievable ways decades later in America. I know people say it's a small world, but this story went a little too far and is a bit laughable! While the ideas are creative and the characters are engaging, this book left me wanting a much more believable story. Again, another example of a story idea that COULD have been amazing. 3.5??

Great book, one of my favorites since I first read it as a teenager. Loved reading it again for my book club. Highly recommend!

When I first picked up this novel, I was completely captivated. The idea felt new and interesting. A young woman makes a hurried choice, lives for centuries across Europe and America, and is forgotten by everyone she meets. It’s the kind of story that is immediately intriguing, and I quickly became invested in Addie’s life. Yet as interesting as the idea was, I often struggled to move on. The pacing became increasingly drawn out, and I found myself waiting impatiently for the moment teased in the blurb, which is the arrival of the one person who remembers her name. It’s an intriguing book, yet I feel that it had the potential to be so much more
